What formats does ChessDiary support?
Paper scoresheet photos, PDF exports, phone screenshots of online games, and pasted PGN text. Gemini AI reads all of them and produces the same clean move list either way.
Is ChessDiary free?
Yes. ChessDiary is currently free to use on both Android and Web, supported by ads rather than a subscription.
How accurate is the scoresheet OCR?
It depends heavily on handwriting — a clearly written scoresheet parses close to perfectly, while rushed time-scramble handwriting needs more correction. Every parsed game is shown for review before it's saved, so you always catch and fix a misread move before it enters your library.
What happens if the analysis engine is busy or unreachable?
ChessDiary automatically falls back to Gemini AI for game analysis if the Stockfish engine server can't be reached, so you still get blunder and mistake flagging instead of a failed request.
Which platforms does ChessDiary run on?

Can I import my existing Chess.com or Lichess history, or just new games?
Linking your account pulls your existing game history from Chess.com's or Lichess's public API, not just games played after you connect — so your whole online history lands in the library at once.
